Mr. Nasser Bourita was appointed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on April 5, 2017.
His Majesty renewed His trust in him on October 9, 2019, appointing him as Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad.
Mr. Bourita was reappointed to his position by His Majesty King Mohammed VI on October 7, 2021.
Born in 1969 in Taounate, Mr. Nasser Bourita graduated from the Faculty of Legal, Economic and Social Sciences in Rabat, earning a law degree in 1991, followed by a Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Relations in 1993, and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Public International Law in 1995.
A career diplomat, Mr. Bourita has risen through all diplomatic ranks. After years of service at the central administration in Rabat, he served at the Moroccan embassies in Vienna and Brussels.
He held several key positions within the Ministry, including Head of the United Nations Main Bodies Division, Head of the United Nations Division (2003–2006), and Director of United Nations and International Organizations (2006–2009). He later served as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, then as Ambassador and Director General of Multilateral Relations and Global Cooperation.
In 2011, he was appointed Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, a role he held until his appointment on February 6, 2016, by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, as Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
